Merchants ask, Link Money delivers. As the demand grows for secure, efficient payment solutions with lower transaction fees, Link Money has responded with a streamlined integration process for its Pay by Bank (PBB) product. Designed with simplicity and efficiency in mind, this new approach allows merchants to start accepting payments with just a single API call. This article walks through the details of the new and improved integration process.
Overview: The Power of Pay by Bank (PBB)
Pay by Bank (PBB) leverages the power of open banking to enable direct bank payments, offering a cost-effective and secure alternative to traditional cards. By integrating PBB, merchants can provide customers with a smooth payment experience, ensuring fast transactions with lower fees and less fraud.
There is a unique opportunity for savings in the US market, which is our focus. Since the US doesn’t have the interchange regulation that other geographies like Europe have, merchant savings from adding PBB are quite material. PBB can slash credit card fees by more than half, and reduce fraud with a decisioning engine that allows a guarantee of funds.
Now let’s get to integrating.
Integration
First things first. Once you make the decision to slash your transaction fees and reduce your chargebacks with Link Money, you will be given access to the Link Money merchant portal, which will be your center for finding everything necessary to connect to the PBB system. With your portal, you will be given a ClientID and Secret required for authenticating your API calls.
Once you’re set up, the integration process begins with a single API call. Using your ClientID and Secret, then filling in a few more fields to map your customer data (ie: email, name, etc), your API call will be set up for a successful request and the API will return a session key and session URL.
With the session key and URL in hand, the next step is to set up the Link Money Frontend SDK. This SDK is designed to make it easy to redirect the user to the Link Money experience. Customers are prompted to use face ID or regular login to access their bank account, initiating and verifying the transaction. If you have ever added your bank account to a brokerage app, the process is essentially the same. This step cuts out the need to manually plug in a routing and account number. In this step you will need to specify a production redirect URL (where customers will be sent after they’ve completed the payment process).
Once the transaction is complete, the SDK will redirect the customer to the specified URL. Along with the redirect, it will return all necessary customer and transaction information. This data is essential for interacting with the broader Link Money API suite, allowing you to manage and track transactions efficiently.
With the integration complete, your system will now be able to handle payments through Link Money’s PBB product. The information returned by the SDK at the end of each transaction includes all the details needed to manage transactions using the Link Money API suite. This enables you to:
Track Transactions: Monitor the status of payments and ensure they are processed correctly.
Handle Exceptions: Manage any issues that arise during the payment process, such as payment failures or incomplete transactions.
Enhance User Experience: Utilize the data to refine the customer experience, ensuring smoother future transactions.
Link Money’s new single API integration approach significantly reduces the complexity of incorporating PBB into your payment options. Merchants can quickly set up a secure, efficient payment system that leverages the latest in open banking technology. With just a single API call, you can start accepting payments with ease, enhancing the experience for both your business and your customers.
